I went to my neighbor’s house for ‘Book club’ meeting today…
I can tell the most of our community neighbors are very friendly.
They never hesitated to say to me like “Hi, new neighbor!!”, “Hi'” when I moved here first time. One day, the president of Home owner association(동네 반장) visited me
and asked me for joining the book club in community. That’s why I’m now member of them.
“Book club” Doesn’t it sound great?
However, as you know what or how usually 아줌마 are doing.
It has no difference between Korean and American 아줌마. ㅋㅋ
We usually prepared some food and shared it with member like potluck party every Wednesday lunch time.
Most of them are white ladies except me and one Japanese and philippino lady.
They usually prepared small bit of finger food like sandwich or canape.
Mine was a ‘Japchae’ today.
Oh!!! Korean Cuisine.
Wonderful! Delicious!
I hoped that was not a just lip service.
Anyway, many of ladies wanted me to post this Japchae recipe in my blog.
To tell you the truth, who cannot make it. Isn’t it true?
However, I tried to post this typical tradition Japchae recipe for my neighbor.
I learned this recipe from my mom who was born and raised in Seoul.
So, this recipe is called the middle of Korea style Japchae.
Ingredients
Potato starch noodle for 6 people,
Onion 1 ea, Carrot 1ea,
Soaked Shiitake mushrooms 1cup,
Spinach 1 bundle,
Bulkogi marinated beef 200g-400g
Sesame oil 1TS, Olive oil 1TS
Beef Bulkogi seasoning sauce
Beef 600g,
4TS Soy sauce, Sugar 1TS, 1/2 ea Korean Pear (if you don’t have a pear, use 1TS sugar more instead of pear),
4 groves Garlic, 4TS Green Onion, 1ts Sesame oil, 2ts Fried Sesame,
One pinch Paper and optionally 1-2TS Paper Flake for spicy)
Directions.
Soaked Potato starch noodle in sea tangle broth over 5 hours.
Fan fried all vegi prepared and seasoned steamed vegi.
Shred and fan fried Onion prepared… fan fried the Bulkogi marinated beef ….
Also, need to saute carrot Too.
Sauted Shiitake mushrooms and seasoned with Bulkogi sauce.
Bulkogi sauce makes the mushrooms taste really good.
This is the home made Bulkogi seasoning sauce.
For beef 600g : 4TS Soy sauce, 1TS Sugar ,
1/2 ea Pear Korean Pear (if you don’t have a Korean pear, use 1TS sugar more instead of pear),
4 groves Garlic, 4TS Green Onion, 1ts Sesame oil, 2ts Fried Sesame, One pinch Paper
Boiled Potato starch noodle in 20sec. (No necessarily needed it. I did it for speed up.)Drain them, Fan fry them with sesame oil 1TS and olive oil 1TS. Season them with Bulgoki sauce.
Put all vegi and meat, noodle prepared in a big ball,
Mix them well…
It’s kind of a little bit annoying to prepare all vegi. individually.
However, it looks really colorful and delicious if you cook and prepare them separately.
The above was that I brought to the book club
For tasting…
It was yummy.
I’m posting this recipe for my neighbors and relative.
